At Surf the Greats, we believe that we are nothing without our community. We strive to foster our community through a series of events throughout the year. Past events include beach clean ups, pop up shops, film screenings, photo exhibitions, community classes, and gear swaps.

GIVEN: The Movie

Join us for the screening of Given and the launch of Lunamar for the Planet on Thursday, July 20 at 7PM at Surf the Greats. This event is a fundraiser for our Freshwater Fund and all proceeds from ticket sales go to the Lake Ontario Waterkeeper for swimmable, drinkable, fishable and surfeable waters.

We are starting a series of yoga on the beach to celebrate the heat and inspire a healthy lifestyle in the city. Join us every Sunday morning at 10AM at Ashbridges Bay / Woodbine Beach for a surf inspired yoga class with Surf the Greats. This fun and accessible class is suitable for everyone, especially if you haven't done yoga before. The series will run from July 23 until September 24 with our instructors Antonio Lennert, Alli Boddy and Oliver Sjaärda taking turns. Bring your own mat or beach towel and come sweat, stretch and meditate with us on the beach. BESIDE #2 Launch

Our Great Lakes have seen the highest water levels in decades and our main beach and surf break in Toronto is desperate need of some care. Join us for yoga, beach clean-up and a BBQ to launch the second edition of BESIDE Magazine, dedicated to the many ways we keep the outdoors wild. This is a free event suitable for the whole family and part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Clean-up. All clean up materials will be provided. The clean up will be at Ashbridges Bay (Woodbine Beach). Island Earth

Join us for the Toronto premiere of ISLAND EARTH—an environmental film by Emmy-winner Cyrus Sutton. We will also screen the local short 'In Season' by Sydney Boniface about the surf scene in Toronto. This event is a fundraiser for our Freshwater Fund and all proceeds will go to the Lake Ontario Waterkeeper.  ISLAND EARTH depicts a rich tale of a young indigenous scientist's struggle for truth between science and tradition as he enters an industry that many feel is threatening his homeland. The Cove Beach Clean Up #16

We've enjoyed the Bluffs over the warm months and as we switch gears into our surf season, it's time to give back to the environment. Invite your friends and family to come help us pick up litter and meet other surfers, paddlers, beach goers and outdoor enthusiasts in our community. There will be a free Tidal Flow Class, potluck BBQ, lots of prizes from our sponsors, and the annual Lake Steward Award ceremony by Surf Dreams Canada. We will also be collecting "Watermarks" for Lake Ontario Waterkeeper's project to archive Canadian water stories to demonstrate why swimmable drinkable fishable water matters.

Tidal Flow 10 Week Series

With tides as a metaphor, we designed a fun and unique class to bring our community together to connect with their minds, bodies and with one another. This Vinyasa flow mixes traditional yoga postures with contemporary movements from Ginástica Natural, conditioning movements from surfing, as well as breathing and meditation techniques. The result is a powerful and unique class suitable for all levels that strengthens the body and nurtures the soul.
