Bloom is a body of work which combines the intricacy of water with complex floral elements as it relates to surfing. In this series Krista expresses an appreciation for the beauty of nature and human form. The style is inspired by her love of both traditional tattoo illustration and the Art Nouveau era. The series is created with ink and spit-shading techniques for a dynamic range of tone and bold colour.

Krista Lowe is a 24 year old artist from Ottawa Ontario. She is a Katimavik Alumni and OCAD University Illustration student with dreams of one day becoming a tattoo artist. She is passionate about the environment and animal rights. Although Krista is new to the surf scene, she has found immense inspiration from the love and passion she has seen within the community.

There will also be live music from Rachel Vermeer. Rachel is a Toronto based singer/songwriter who's rustic sound is brought to life through her melodic vocals and gentle guitar. Originally from the Niagara Region her music is influenced by her rural upbringing, incorporating elements of folk, country, and indie pop.

Join us for the opening on Thursday, November 9th at 7PM. The show will be on display until December 5th.
